ছবির জন্য বিভিন্ন ফাইল ফরমেটের সাথে আমরা বেশ পরিচিত। সবচেয়ে বেশি যে নামটি শোনা যায় তা হলো জে-পেগ। JPEG ফরমেটের ফাইলের সবচেয়ে বড় সুবিধা হলো বিভিন্ন মানে ফাইলটি সংরক্ষন করা যায়।
JPEG ফরমেট কি?
JPEG বা JPG (অনেক সময় “জে-পেগ” আবার অনেক সময় “জেপিজি” -উচ্চারণ করা হয়) বলতে মূলতঃ ছবির একটি কম্প্রেশনকে বুঝায়। ডিজিটাল ফটোগ্রাফকে মান নিয়ন্ত্রনের মাধ্যমে কম মেমরীতে সংরক্ষন করার জন্য এটি একটি জনপ্রিয় ফরমেট। JPEG এর পূর্ণ রূপ Joint Photographic Expert Group (যে প্রতিষ্ঠানটি এই ফরমেট উদ্ভাবন করেন)। এই ফরমেটের ফাইলের শেষে স্বাধারনতঃ .jpeg বা .jpg দিয়ে লেখা হয়।
TIFF, JFIF ও JPEG
টিফ (TIFF=Tagged Image File Format) ফরমেটটি বেশ ভাল মানের ছবির জন্য জনপ্রিয় একটি ফাইল ফরমেট। প্রিন্টিং, স্ক্যানিং ও ফটোগ্রাফীর মান সম্পন্ন ছবির জন্য এটি উপযুক্ত ফরমেট। অনেক সময় ডিজিটাল ক্যামেরা সহ বেশ কিছু ডিভাইজে টিফ ফরমেটে ফাইল সংরক্ষিত হয়। এবং সেটাকে JPEG ফরমেটের এলগরিদমে পরিবর্তন করে সংরক্ষন করা হয়। JFIF ও Exif
ফরমেটের ফাইলগুলোও মূলতঃ JPEG এলগরিদম অনুসরণ করে।
PNG ও JPEG
PNG ফাইল ফরমেট মূলতঃ ছবির প্রতিটা বিটের তথ্য সংরক্ষন করে আর তাই ছবির মান একটুও খারাপ হয় না। আইকন, লগো ইত্যাদিতে পিএনজি ফাইল ফরমেট ব্যবহৃত হয়। পিএনজি ফাইলের সাইজও বেশ বড় হয়। এটিতে কোন তথ্য সংকুচিত করা হয় না।
জেপেগ ফরমেটকে পিএনজি’র বিপরীত বলা চলে। এটি ছবির তথ্যসমুহকে এমনভাবে সংকুচিত করে যাতে দেখতে বেশ সুবিধাজনকই মনে হবে। কিন্তু অনেক তথ্যই সংকুচিত করা হবে।
JPEG কম্প্রেশন
মনে করুন আপনি একটি বই পড়লেন। আপনাকে এর সারমর্ম বলতে হলো। তাহলে অধিক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিষয়গুলোকেই তো গুরুত্ব দেবেন। এবং সেইভাবে সারমর্মটি বলে যাবেন। ছবির কম্প্রেশনের সময় এই বেপারটি লক্ষ্য করা হয়। মানুষের চোখ সব কিছু দেখতে পায় না। বৈজ্ঞানিক যুক্তির মাধ্যমে বুঝতে পারে। JPEG কম্প্রেশনের সময় চোখ যে সব পরিবর্তন বুঝতে পারবে না সেইভাবে রংগুলোকে সংকুচিত করা হয়। মূলতঃ একটি বড় পরিবেশের ছবিকে অনেক দূর থেকে দেখলে অনেক কিছুই বুঝতে পারা যায় না। তবে ধারনা করে নেওয়া যায়। অনেকটা সেইভাবেই কম্প্রেশন করা হয়।নিচের ছবিটা দেখলে বুঝা যাবে প্রায় একই রকম দেখা যাচ্ছে অথচ ফাইল সাইটের ব্যপক পার্থক্য আছে।
প্রোগ্রেসিভ ও বেসলাইন JPEG
কোন ওয়েবসাইট খোলার সময় ছবি লোড হতে কিছু সময় নিতে পারে। ছবিটি ডাউনলোড হওয়ার সময় উপর থেকে নিচের দিকে লোড হতে দেখা যেতে পারে। এটি বেসলাইন জেপেগ ফরমেট।
অনেক সময় ছবিটির সম্পূর্ণ অংশই ঝাপসা আকারে আসে, ধিরে ধিরে ছবির মান ভাল হতে থাকে। সম্পূর্ণ অংশ লোড হলে সম্পূর্ণ স্পষ্ট হয়। এই পদ্ধতির ছবিটি প্রোগ্রেসিভ জেপেগ। নিচের ছবিটিতে বিষয়টি বুঝতে পারবেন।
ফটোশপে ফাইল সংরক্ষনের সময় এই অপশনটি দেখা যায়। এখানেই আপনার পছন্দের পদ্ধতিটি সিলক্ট করে নিতে পারেন।
ব্যবহারিক টিপস
ফটোগ্রাফীতে এই ফরমেট ব্যবহার উপযোগী। যে সব ছবি ইন্টারনেটে ব্যবহার করা হবে সেগুলো প্রয়োজনিয় মাপে ছোট করে নেওয়া যেতে পারে। ইন্টারনেট ব্যান্ডউইথ রক্ষায় বেশ ভাল ভূমিকা পালন করে এই অপটিমাইজেশন। মোবাইল ও হ্যান্ডি ডিভাইজসমুহে ব্যবহৃত ছবি জেপিজি হলে তেমন সমস্যা দেখা যায় না। কম মেমরী ধারনক্ষমতা সম্পন্ন এই সব ডিভাইজে জেপিজি ছবি ব্যাপকভাবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
তবে বড় মাপের ছবি প্রিন্টিং এর কাজে জেপিজি ফরমেট ব্যবহার করা উচিৎ হবে না। এ ক্ষেত্রে সূক্ষ লাইনগুলো অস্পষ্ট ও ঝাপসা আসতে পারে। আর এই কম্প্রেশনের এলগরিদমের কারনে কিছু কিছু ক্ষেত্রে বেশ কিছু সমস্যারও সৃষ্টি হয়। কোন একটি জ্যামিতিক আর্ট বা ভেক্টর গ্রাফিক্সকে জে-পেগ ফরমেটে পরিবর্তন করলে অনেক লাইন ড্রয়িং দেখাই যাবে না। কোন কোন ক্ষেত্রে কার্টুন, টেক্সটের জন্যও এই ফরমেট অনুপযোগী। এ ক্ষেত্রে জিআইএফ ফরমেট ব্যবহার করা যেতে পারে। কম্পিউটার লগো, আইকন, লেআউটে ব্যবহৃত ছবিসমুহ জেপিজি ফাইল ব্যবহার করে কপ্রেশনের খব বেশি সুবিধা পাওয়া যায় না এবং নিন্মমানের ছবি আসে।
